How to install Windows Vista Home
After you selected your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device, you can begin your installation by
pressing any hey on your keyboard.
Select your settings and press Next.
To begin installation press Install now.
Enter Your Product Key then press Next to continue.
Note: You can leave it blank press Next and register your product later.
Make sure that you select the edition of Windows that you purchased (in this case Windows Vista

correct edition of Windows later.
Check I accept the license terms and press Next.
Click on Custom (advanced ) section to continue.
Because this is the first installation your hard will be unpartitioned space.
To create a partition in the unpartitioned space, press Drive options (advanced).
Press New to create your first partition.
We recommend that the first partition be dedicated to your operation system and have 50 GB.
To create this partition press Apply.
Depending on hard disk size we recommend to divide your remaining unpartitioned space in partitions that
will soot your needs. For example you can make a special partitions for your installed programs, or games,
music, movies, etc.
After you created all your partitions select system partition ( Disk 0 Partition 1 ) and press Next to begin
Setup will continue after restart.
If previously in bios you selected that your CD/DVD/RW to be your first boot device you will be prompted to
press any key to begin the installation.
Do not press any key because you will start another installation, just wait the installation to continue.
Enter Your Name then press Next to continue (you can provide a password later for your account).
Provide a name for your computer and press Next.
Select Use recommended settings.
Review your time and data settings then press Next.
Press Finish to complete installation.
Why a clean installation of Windows Vista Home?
A clean install is an installation of an operating system on a hard drive which has been totally erased.
Clean installs are used to put an operating system on a brand new computer, and to replace or totally
upgrade it on an older computer. In this case we will consider that your computer is new, with no operating
system installed, or you have replaced your hard disk with a new one .
The purpose of the article is to show how a Windows Vista Home installation goes and how to partition the
hard drive for the first time.
We recommend dividing the hard disk for the following reasons:
- hard disk division result in a better response time from the operating system
- efficient organization of data
- if you need to reinstall your operating system you can backup only the system partition
