How to Start/Stop KtmRm for Distributed Transaction Coordinator service

Service name: KtmRm

Display name: KtmRm for Distributed Transaction Coordinator


Description:

Coordinates transactions between the Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MSDTC) and the Kernel Transaction Manager (KTM). If it is
not needed, it is recommended that this service remain stopped. If it is needed, both MSDTC and KTM will start this service automatically.
If this service is disabled, any MSDTC transaction interacting with a Kernel Resource Manager will fail and any services that explicitly
depend on it will fail to start.

C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe -k NetworkServiceAndNoImpersonation

Please go to Start and click on the Search programs and files

Type regedit and press Enter

Please confirm User Account Control pop-up

Please navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\KtmRm and locate Start registry key

Double click on Start and edit the value:


Change Startup type :

Automatic - 2

Manual - 3

Disabled - 4

Automatic (Delayed Start) - 2


Note: When you change to Automatic (Delayed Start) a new key DelayedAutostart is created with value 1

When you change to Automatic from Automatic (Delayed Start), DelayedAutostart change value to 0
